Celebrating Our Client Heroes – Jesse & Curtis
Each time we write a client hero blog, we all sit back and say “How cool is this? We have cool clients!” And here it is, the first blog of 2016 and guess what? It’s about more cool clients! It’s going to be a good year – yup it is!
So Jesse and Curtis – they take life and all it throws at them straight up with a twist of humour. They are a young farming family doing exactly what has made our province strong and a vital contributor to the world economy.
Curtis & Jesse have three young kids. Life is full and when it comes to thinking about finances, below is what they are thinking about.
What is your occupation?
Jesse: Ag Account Manager
Curtis: Farmer
Where are you from originally?
Jesse: Milestone, Saskatchewan
Curtis: Avonlea, Saskatchewan
What is your favourite quote?
Jesse: If you want the rainbow, you have to put up with the rain.
Curtis: We ride together, we die together. Bad boys for life.
What is your favourite hobby?
Jesse: Well, we have three young kids so at the moment I have no hobbies, but drinking coffee while it’s still hot is pretty good.
Curtis: Back-country snowmobiling.
What might someone be surprised to know about you?
Jesse: Umm, I used to take vocal lessons growing up. Not as interesting as Curtis’ answer.
Curtis: I was on a nationally broadcasted high school trivia show called Smartask.
What is the most challenging aspect of being a young farming family?
Both: Finding time to spend together as a family.
What is your top money frustration?
Jesse: How cash always disappears and I never know where it goes.
Curtis: Unexpected larger expenses.
Money and I get along like:
Jesse: Monkeys and bananas . . . I always want more.
Curtis: Like marriage . . . there are ups and downs but things always get better with time.
My proudest money moment:
Jesse: When my emergency savings first hit four digits.
Curtis: Being able to put 10% of what I pay myself away every month.
Financial security to me means…
Jesse: Having all your needs covered and most of your wants.
Curtis: Knowing whatever life throws at us, we will be able to cover it.
What was your latest splurge?
Jesse: Eyelash extensions…. that’s embarrassing.
Curtis: A hockey stick.
If you could ask a financial planner any question, what would it be?
Both: Will you match our children’s savings for school?….. Think of the kids!!!!
TCM: Well Jesse and Curtis as the saying goes “give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime”.
